Dennis Pohl is director of the Flanders Architecture Institute (VAi), the Antwerp-based centre for architectural culture in the Flemish region of Belgium.

Pohl was formerly a postdoctoral researcher at the Design, Data and Society group at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft). His research focuses on the relationship between energy, politics and architecture in the postwar era; recent publications include Building Carbon Europe from 2023, which analyses how architectural design influenced political planning in postwar Europe. He was also a research fellow for the recent exhibition Power at CIVA in Brussels (2023–24).

Pohl has previously held research positions at the University of the Arts in Berlin, the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation at Columbia University in New York, and the Goethe University Frankfurt. He has contributed to publications including the Architectural Theory Review, ARCH+, Archiv für Mediengeschichte, Migrant Journal, as well as a number of collected volumes.
